Lets learn about triangles

What is a Triangle?

A triangle is a closed 3-sided polygon. Every triangle has three sides and three angles.

Types of Triangles:

On the basis of Sides:

Equilateral Triangle

  • An equilateral triangle is a triangle whose three sides all have the same length
  • All three sides are equal in length, and all three angles in the corners are 60º.

Isosceles Triangle

  • An isosceles triangle is a triangle whose two sides have the same length
  • The angles opposite the equal sides are also equal.

Scalene Triangle

  • A triangle that has all three sides of different lengths is a scalene triangle.
  • Since all the three sides are of different lengths, the three angles will also be different.

Types of Triangles:

On the basis of Angles:

Right Triangle

  • A right triangle (also called a right angled triangle) is a triangle with a right angle (90°) in it.
  • The other two angles of a right-angle triangle are acute angles.
  • The side opposite to the right angle is the largest side of the triangle and is called the hypotenuse.

Actue Triangle

  • AA triangle that has all three angles less than 90° is an acute angle triangle.
  • All the angles of an acute angle triangle are called acute angles

Obtuse Triangle

  • A triangle that has one angle that measures more than 90° is an obtuse angle triangle.
  • If one angle of the triangle is obtuse, then the other two angles with always be acute.

Some Properties of Triangles:

  1. The sum of all angles of a traingle is equal to 180°. This is called the "Angle Sum Property".
  2. The sum of length of two sides of a triang;e is greater than lenght of the third side
  3. The side opposite the greater angle is the longest side of all the three sides of a triangle.
